This documentary photography work is like a story about the underground club E.M.M.A in Antwerp.
I met a lot of new people, by keeping contact with them I met the club’s owner of E.M.M.A Pascale.
This work is about showing Pascale’s world, how she thinks, how she interacts with the people, it almost feels like an underground family. When you go to E.M.M.A. it doesn’t matter where you are from, what is your sexuality, anything matters, everyone is welcome here no matter what, everyone is equal.
The reason why everybody loves E.M.M.A. this much is because the owner has a very open mind, anything is possible as long as you share this open mind also.
This project started in the middle of October 2016 until January 3th 2017. Later in January the club will be closed forever, but for everyone it will be never forgotten, it’ll stay in their minds as the legendary underground club E.M.M.A.
While I was going there, I got to know more and more people, I learnt that they are very interesting and creative people. They gave me a lot of tips for my own work, which I really appreciate, they are very passionate. Eventually I’d feel like a member of the community myself.
